Twenty-seven slices of the sky

The zodiac has twelve signs, but Jyotish also divides it into twenty-seven nakshatras, each 13°20' wide. The Moon moves through about one a day, so your birth nakshatra is a much finer fingerprint than your Moon sign.

Each nakshatra has a ruling planet (which sets the start of your dasha), a deity, a symbol and an animal. Ashwini is the horse-headed healers. Rohini is the ox-cart. Mula is a bundle of roots.

What's yours? Your Moon's nakshatra is on your Profile.
